 He was my first hero!

He didn’t say much, but you’d better listen when he spoke.

A gentle giant, with a regal demeanor.

He gave a lot of himself as he served up plenty.

He wasn’t big on material things.

But, the things he had represented the love of a King.

Momma, took such great care of us, particularly of him,

As she sat on her throne,

Showering us, particularly him, with the greatest gift he’s known.

The gift was that of pure love, not of material things.

Thank God for this dynamic!

It's surely why their marriage lasted over 40 years.

What a beautiful thing!

Her words ring loudly throughout the building.

Everyone’s attention was undivided, favoring her direction.

Confidence spewed throughout the depths of the building.

As she so eloquently taught about Naaman’s healing.

Her bellowing spirit stood fast throughout the building.

She appeared to be well within her zone,

Without boundaries, another gift is in God’s building.

"A Man" by Lavel Fox

"Facing Life With Love and Sensitivity" by Chris Jones

"Facing Life With Love and Sensitivity" by Chris Jones

Here again, here you stand.

Behind a jail cell, in shackles,

Doesn’t make you “a man.”

My Brother, my friend, what must

I say to help you understand.

In this world you have no friends.

Quote this on the back of your hand.

Jewelry, clothes, girls, cars and

You think the world in your hands.

Don’t forget who got the world in they hands.

Bu,t you can’t fame got you sidetrack

So, you think you “a man”?

What makes “A MAN” going to

School, getting good grades, getting

In college, dat should be your

Plan.

I’m a man, here I stand in front

Of you here I am.

There’s no knocking my confidence

Down.

I’m focused; I have a plan.

In life I will accomplish for my mom.

Me walking across the

Stage as my mom screams out,

That’s my little man.

The last twelve years or so has unveiled many masks that hid the depths of generational hatred.

Now, faces are surfacing in the midst of this pandemic that are colorfully ugly

...worn by grown folks seemingly looking back to their infancy.

God please cleanse our lenses so we may see ourselves more clearly

...in order to treat the next person as we so desire to be treated.

By chance if any person not believe in You above, I pray they believe in something bigger than themselves,

so they're minds be tugged by conviction

...and their hearts, by love.

"One Girl" by Michael Garrett

"One Girl" by Michael Garrett

My heart filled up for this one girl

I mean I like her a lot and want her to be my girl

But to me it’s like she got her eyes on another world

She don’t see me and the things I would do for that one girl

Tears and blood for that one girl

Soul and heart for that one girl

Give it my all for that one girl

So that I could show her that she’s special

My heart filled up for this one girl

I mean I like her a lot and want her to be my girl

But to me it’s like she got her eyes on another world

She don’t see me and the things I would do for that one girl

Tears and blood for that one girl

Soul and heart for that one girl

Give it my all for that one girl

So that I could show her that she’s special and not just one girl

And if she gives me a chance I could show her that she’s my special girl

Just like the song, it could be me and her against the world.

You were who He saw as the best guide. I’m sure you’re wondering why? It should really be no surprise! There was me needing you to show me how to be wise.

Yeah...I wouldn’t listen, but you were oh so persistent.

Demanding excellence and saving me from myself at times…even though …yep yep...sometimes I did have to catch that “belt”.

Demanding excellence and saving me from myself at times…even though …yep yep...sometimes I did have to catch that “belt”.

Planting seeds over the years that you watered with love and prayers. A special shout out to God for making sure that I had a praying mom who was oh so able to get through my layers.

So many lessons that I didn’t want to face, but you knew I had to learn. Watching from a distance offering me your genuine concern.

Thank you, God! I’m so grateful for my chosen Mom…without her, the woman I am, would’ve never become.

Now, its my turn to give all I have to my own daughter, and I feel so prepared. Celebrating you and your sacrifices because even if I don’t know the hidden moments; I do know that you continue to battle and advocate for your family.

God’s chosen has proved that this Queen Mother, was the best pick, and there is no other woman who could have pushed us to make this family’s legacy…so epic!

"He's Leading" by Pernell Johnson

Each day can bring new joy,
Like a kid opening a new toy,

Each day can bring sorrow,
Which makes us not look towards tomorrow,

We have to be strong and sure,
That God has the cure,

So don't look at the past and be sad,
Reflect and be glad,

Glad of each and every day provided,
Glad that God has guided,

Things may not be as you wanted,
And

Each day can bring new joy,
Like a kid opening a new toy,

Each day can bring sorrow,
Which makes us not look towards tomorrow,

We have to be strong and sure,
That God has the cure,

So don't look at the past and be sad,
Reflect and be glad,

Glad of each and every day provided,
Glad that God has guided,

Things may not be as you wanted,
And God may seem like an opponent,

Be assured he is not my friend,
He is refreshing as the tropical wind,

Take with you these words of wisdom,
God is leading you to his kingdom.
